Donations
Donations and sales of
items in our catalog
account for nearly all of our support. All proceeds go directly to support the work of the
Human Kindness Foundation, including its internationally respected Prison-Ashram Project,
as well as sponsoring Bo Lozoff's free lectures and workshops. No money is spent on
fundraising.

Bo wrote the following essay to explain our basic views:
Money Yoga
Because the connection between money and spiritual work can be so
confusing and hurtful, I want to clearly express our attitude about it: Human Kindness
Foundation, no matter how noble its goals, must not add
pressure and guilt to the world by hounding you for support.
But some of our
supporters have complained that we say so little
about money, you may think we don't need or appreciate your donations (extremely untrue on
both counts!). So, here's the truth about our money situation, how we feel about
fundraising, and how you can help out whether you're a death row inmate or a
multi-millionaire.
We believe in "Affectionate
Generosity." It seems fitting to financially support projects or organizations
you believe in -- as a joy
and privilege, not an obligation. It's not our business to remind you or to
compete with other worthy causes for your support. We feel it's your responsibility to
commit your funds wherever you feel they may be put to best use. We won't pester you.
HKF has only a few
hundred loyal donors -- no
regular grants or government funding. No salaries are paid. No money is spent on
fundraising; it all goes to our programs, services and utilities. We spend over $100,000 per year on printing and postage alone.
We genuinely believe that a dollar offered with affectionate generosity has
great impact on the world. Your donation expresses a trust in us which
encourages and inspires our work. The one-dollar donor and the thousand-dollar donor are
equally responsible for whatever Human Kindness Foundation accomplishes in the world.
You are welcome to
be on our mailing list and receive our materials whether you send us money or not.
With love, friendship, and respect,

Bo Lozoff
